Day Four, Sketch of the Day. 05/24/14

Greetings from Clackamas.

After a fine and busy Saturday, I returned home and did this quick sketch before bed. The subject is a barn owl, rendered in pen & ink, over a light pencil sketch.

Cheers!

Day Three: Sketch of the Day, Friday, the 23rd of May.

Sketch a day project, day three.

Taxidermy caiman on coffee table, after long day at work. A close friend of mine has a taxidermy caiman head in her collection of odd things, and it seemed the perfect subject for last night's sketch. Enjoy! Micron 02 and 05 pens, 2B pencil, and a bit of watercolor were the alchemical ingredients used in this particular sketch, drawn above a Mexican restaurant, in downtown Milwaukie, Oregon.

A Creative Resolution: A sketch each day.

I've decided to take on a resolution to make at least one sketch a day for as long as possible. I hope to kick-start my inspiration and get to making art.... with as much joy as possible! I'll upload sketches each day to this folder. ~ M.H. Starting Day: May 21, 2014, in Milwaukie, Oregon.

And so, here are the first two days!

A Quick Sketch

A sketch, drawn on a recent Spring day, while hiking the Springwater Corridor, and Oaks Bottom, in Sellwood, Oregon. This sketch presents the view looking north, from just a bit North of Oaks Amusement Park. Otter, herons, crows, and endless flights of geese were to be seen as I strolled along the path. A lovely day, all in all!

A Saw-wet owl ~

I recently painted this little guy, a Saw-wet owl. Pen & ink on Arches 140lb hot pressed watercolor paper. This is the first ACEO I've done, and it was a fun project. The first of many, I hope! 2.5 X 3.5 inches.

Brewery Blocks in Portland ~ Sketch during construction.

I drew this back when the old Henry Weinhard's was being revamped into a shining new block in the Pearl. Portland sure has seen a lot of changes in the last 10-15 years..........
